At the moment there’s nothing much to say about the City Engineering Department inspection other than that it still hasn’t taken place. Northcon’s site architect, who is dealing with the occupancy permit, has the name of the engineer who will do it but as yet there’s been no sign of her. The application for the [...]

I haven’t posted a blog for a few days as we’ve spent quite a lot of time out at the site with the contractor. They have made steady progress with the finishing and should have done all the substantial things by this weekend, however, actual occupancy is most likely to be the end of the [...]

The boss of Northcon visited the site today to appraise progress and made quite a few changes to the present strategy including the introduction of special completion bonuses and a room by room timetable for completion. He will focus teams on each area rather than spreading resource. He is also bringing two additional painters up [...]

Now the long spell of dry weather has broken we are having very heavy rainstorms at the end of each day. As a result backfilling has been temporarily suspended although surprisingly at the site yesterday only a few small areas were actually muddy. The rest was firm enough to walk on without earth sticking to [...]

11 truck loads of embankment soil were delivered today so Nelson and his small team were working harder than ever. The truck drivers are very co-operative in dropping their load off in more than one place on the site which saves a lot of earth moving later. The trucks also assist greatly in compacting the [...]

Today was the target date Northcon set its team for delivering our project and as my photos and videos clearly show they still have a long way to go. We know they will get to the end of the tunnel but the question is when? In contrast the separate local teams we are managing have [...]

There seemed to be more to show of the wall than any change in the houses. There is progress in the latter but it is still quite slow and always two steps forward and three steps back. Instance the enthusiastic filling of the holes in the walls of several rooms that will be needed for [...]

The most noticeable progress has been with the wall. Work in the house plods on with some nice touches and pleasant surprises with the design. But it’s much slower than we are accustomed to in the UK. In the main this is because so much in our house is being custom built. This is not [...]

Northcon have already begun to take action on the issues we raised at the weekend. As a matter of fact roof installers were already at work on Mangilgot house when we arrived this morning and inquiries are ongoing regarding the sub-contractor issues we highlighted. Later in the day these inquiries led to various decisions being [...]

Work on both houses is progressing well with one exception, the roof. An army of men is doing all kinds of finishing work and some rooms even look like their nearing completion. Conversely all work on both roofs has been suspended due we understand to some dispute with the Puyat Steel subcontractor. Similarly the original [...]
